Fake medicines: do you believe this?

There was a tv program I've watched a couple of months back that was dedicated solely for the purpose of exposing fake medicines in the country and the apprehensions of some of the perpetrators. Fake consumer products will only cost one his money but fake medicines cost a person his life. I personally think that this is a heinous crime and deserves the heaviest punishment short of death penalty. How horrible do you think this is?
