When are you ready to have a baby?

My husband and I have discussed having a baby. We were talking about trying to have a child after our two year wedding anniversary (We will have been together for over seven years.) I have done some research and the only advice suggests that we wait a few years after marriage, and save some additional money. But I want more information. I'm not naive enough to thinking that I can have any idea what I am getting into to, but still. How do you decide that you are really ready to try to have a child?
