Best Smash Brothers Game?

What does everyone think is the best smash brothers game ever? I know that Brawl is not out yet, but do you think that it will be better than teh original or Melee? Also, what's everyone's favorite item? If it's somthing like a pokeBall, say what your favorite pokeMon is.

I always liked the original. N64 was awesome and the original had simple controls, good characters, and you could play it for hours. The n64 controller was probably the best controller ever made, and palying the game was really intuitive. I used to play it for literally hours straight and I was AMAZING at that game.

I rented it once, and LOVED it. Unfortunatly, my parents wouldn't let me keep the game, so that was the last I had of the original. I miss it... lol What was your favorite item in the original game? I don't remember much from it unfortunatley.
