Motivating Yourself to Exercise and Lose Weight

I don't know about everyone else, but it is difficult to keep myself motivated to exercise and continue putting forth the effort to lose weight. I have been exercising and eating right since January 2, 2007 and have lost 10 pounds. However, I am beginning to lose the motivation I had last month. I found an article and several helpful websites that put me back on track. Below is a link if you are interested (you may have to copy and paste). http://motivatedtoexercise.blogspot.com If anyone has additional suggestions to help myself as well as many others stay motivated, please share!

Hi Krista, I seem to have the same problem. I set my mind to lose weight and do it too and then after a while I'm back to square one!All that hard work just feels like a waste with one food binge. Thanks for the link, will read it in detail. I'm back to working out again since last week, I'm also watching what I eat..hopefully this time I stay motivated till the end.

One thing i do to stay motivated, i took a picture of myself just before i started losing weight. . . i put that picture right beside my computer (which is where i spend most of my time) and it reminds me that if i don't watch what i eat and quit exercising, i'll look like that again. . .so far i've lost 12 pounds. also, for exercise, i like dancing, so i use "dance" cardio workouts such as "Paula Abdul: Get up and dance" or "salsa", etc. . . i find these are fun to do , so i want to workout more

I have no weight problem but I still go to gym workout every week. What motivates me? I think it got to do with the goals i set for this year - run a 5K (under 25 min) and a 10K (under 55 min). In addition, i also think that it got to do with the fees that i paid for the gym membership - got to make full use of what you paid for! :) I really think that it is important to set goals for yourself. Just keep challenging yourself to keep you moving! Good Luck

I am usually a busy person, but it has always been hard to keep motivated to exercise like one should. So I guess that would make me lazy in that aspect. But I have found it easier to keep motivated about exercising when I have a group of friends or family to do it with. We ocassionally have competitions and contests. We plan outtings and even have volleyball or badmitten tournaments on weekends or whenever we all have the time off from work to do such things.

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look at it. I'm extremely interested in trying to lose more weight, because I just had a baby 9 months ago, and I have a lot of weight left to lose. I was thinking of joining a gym, so we'll see how it goes.
