I love Votivo...but they are REALLY pricey (I only get to use them when they are gifts). I think Yankee Candles are pretty good. They last a long time, and give off a lot of scent. The scent part is especially important to me as I have a downstairs neighbor who somkes, and it comes through the floor. Ick! What candles do you think give you the most bang for your buck, while still being affordable?

I have never heard of "Votivo" candles, I will have to check them out. Usually we use the candles from Home Interiors, they are GREAT. Yes a big one is about $20, but the scent both lit and unlit is great and they last forever. I have tried Yankee candles, they are nice too...not much cheaper than the ones we use. However I don't think the smells are as nice. I Loathe partylite candles, they smell nice when they are not lit but that is about it. Plus they are wayyyy too expensive. I suggest (if you like these scents) Home Interior's Strawberries and Cream or Raspberry Fizz....YUM!

Yeah...Vitovo are insanely expensive, but they smell great and last a long time. Thanks for the tips on the Home Interior candles. Those scents sound delightful! I really like the name Raspberry Fizz!

They are great, we buy them all the time. They don't come in the large size which SUCKS but they do come in the medium and I think tealight. We don't buy tealights often however, they don't last as long. Definitly try them, they cover up smoke smell great!

i agree that Yankee Candles do smell very well. I also love Henri Bendel candles that can be bought at Bath and Body Works. However, I only buy these on sale, as they are out of my price range at normal price. I also love Aveda scented candles as they usually burn clean and its non-synthetic scents. They are pricey but they all smell amazing as well.

OOO...I love the way the Aveda store smells! I didn't know they made candles. Thanks for the tip. I'll also keep an eye out for sales at Bath and Body Works.

I also love votivo. Yankee Candle isn't bad, but sometimes their scents give me a headache depending on what scent it is.

Going into the store in general is pretty over whleming. My previous boss used to burn some harvest scent yankee candle thing in her office...it was like an instant migraine for me.

I've just learned about soy candles. I guess they burn cleaner than the regular wax ones which sounds nice. I hate it when jar candles get that black soot around the top. It sometimes gets on my hands when I try to relight them.

I love Yankee candles and I have never heard of the Votivo candles. I just went to the website and the candle scents that I saw are very interesting. I think I will treat myself to one for Mother's Day. I think that the Yankee candles are great for the price, and I usually wait for a sale, then I stack up on them! Have you smelled the Citrus and Sage from Yankee? It is wonderful, but I am a Vanilla lover!

For my tarts, it has to be Yankee Candle. They smell really nice and the tart scent lasts longer. As for jar candles, I usually don't buy the Yankee Candle ones cause they are expensive. We have a craft store in our area called AC Moore, I buy my jar candles there. They are not Yankee Candle but they are nice and the scents are good.

I have a really yummy candle from "my moments", I think it was from a hallmark store or something, but it's a really nice blackberry sage scent. And it's a big fat pillar candle that was on sale for only $5 or so. Generally I like to get my scented candles from some of the etailers I order bath and body stuff from, a lot of them will do custom scents, so you can pick your candles to match your bath bombs, body lotion, etc. And I prefer soy candles and tarts, they burn cleaner and last longer.

I actually tend to luck out the best at the local street fairs. Candles there are usually very cheep and smell delicious.
