OK - I think many of you will not approve of this true story, but I thought I would like to share it with you, and just see what the general consensus of opinion was. To cut a long story as short as possible, one of my best friends, has a brother who is gay, and he and his partner were married in a Civil Ceremony last year. Here in the UK, it is legal for "gay" couples to marry and to adopt children, but rather than adopt, Luke and his partner, have decided they want a baby of their own family blood. So my friend is donating her "egg", and her other sister will be carrying the baby as a surrogate mother. Obviously, her brother's partner will be the natural Father, so that way, the couple's baby will be as near to half of both partners as it is physicaly possible to be. I personally think it is a lovely story, and shows how much the family love each other, and how the two sisters will do anything to make their brother and the person he loves, as happy as they can be. The child will be born into one of the happiest, kindest, and closest families that I know, and to a couple that have been tigether for 12 years now, so certainly a stable relationship. I am happy for all of them, but I guess some people here will disagree. What does anyone think?

I think this is a wonderful gesture of family love. How fortunate that child will be to grow up in a loving, stable home. So many children don't get that opportunity even with a traditional (mom and dad) home. :)

I think this sounds like the most perfect situation for them! It's awesome that sisters are willing to do this for their brother and brother-in-law. I'm sure many other gay couples wish they were so lucky.

Rosie I think it's a beautiful story. It is obviously the love they share for their brother. There isn't enough love in this world so it's nice when you hear stories like this. I hope it all works out well for them. The baby will have lots of love and people around that care that's for sure.

I think it's great to have such a close and loving family willing to help out in that manner. There's not a lot of people that would do that for anyone let alone in a case such as this. It's nice to know they will be able to have a baby of their own (or as close to their own as is possible in this type of situation). I'm sure this conversation will spark some really negative comments, but I think it's great. I'm sure the baby will be born into a very happy family as it sounds like they are very close :)
