Hubby and I are going for tattoos in 2 days. We are getting matching tattoos in honor of our beautiful daughter Kearsey. We made a footprint just after she was born and we are using that for our tattoo. Do you think matching tattoos are a good idea? We are not adding our names, but some friends have said that it is not a good idea since it is permanent. Just after she was born, I had one done (see attached pic). The chinese symbol represents her nickname, the sun represents our new beginning & the K is her initial.

I think thats a really righteous idea actually. Honestly you both will know what the footprint stands for and it will be an awesome conversation starter.Just remember that ink is an expression, your body is yours and I personally can think of no better way to show your appriciation to your daughter then matching tattoos. I have tattoos for all my children and they are constantly coming up to me and making me show off my ink to their friends because they know how much I care and they also think it is awesome that I would do something like that for them.

thanks for the comment! It is nice to see someone else who is doing the same thing. I am glad that your children are older and really seem to like it, it gives me an idea of how Kearsey may react when she is older!

I had to re-read your topic, at first I thought that Kearsey was deceased. Sorry! It is a nice idea to honor your daughter in this fashion, but I personally would not do it. The footprints mean something to you and your husband and obviously you have put a great deal of thought into the body art. Since you have other body art, this is obviously your way of expressing yourself. I pesonally do not like tatoos and even though some are exquisite in detail & beauty, I just find that they are marking a masterpiece that God had already created.
