What should I do?

After my son was born I was told that I have a tumor. It is benign(non-cancerous)and there is very little risk of it coming back; even though it hasn't been removed yet. I was very sick all of the time and I couldn't really do anything, but now I don't get sick anymore and I want to be out-and-about. I am currently enrolled in school and I am looking for a job, but the big question is should I get the surgery even though i'm feeling much better and I am pretty much healthy now? My problem is that I don't want to be sick anymore and I know that if/when I have this surgery I will be laying in a hospital bed somewhere sick AGAIN and I don't want that. It will push my plans even further back and i'm tired of people feeling sorry for me. I just want to live a normal life like everyone else. Please respond if you have an answer for me especially if you have or know someone that has had medical problems that have changed their lives dramatically.

I would go on the advise of what my doctor told me he/she thought I should do . If there is no risk of it becoming cancerous , then why do you have to have it removed ? Are they worried that if it isn't removed it will increase your changes of becoming a problem . If this is the case then I think I would have it done as you will feel sick for awhile but once you recover then you wouldn't have to worry about it again and could move forward with the rest of your life . Take Care !

Hi there and welcome to mylot, I am sorry for the health probs you have faced but I can tell your a strong determined person and can put your mind to whatever you want to do. I would talk to your Dr, if its benign and your feeling well, then I see no need to put you thru pain and setbacks, especially since you have goals and plans and such an awesome outlook on what you want. Of course I am not a Dr, but I would talk to yours and tell him of your feelings. I hope everything works out for you and again welcome to mylot! Wishing you much happiness this year!
