If you have a Sata HDD you can acess it faster then if you have a IDE! so your computer will be faster!

I know sata is faster than pata.Is it because sata has flat ribbon cable for data taransfer and pata has the cables like we have for power supply.

Basic difference between SATA and PATA is that SATA is Serial Advanced Technology Attachment i.e. data transfer between HDD and Motherboard is done serially and PATA is Parallel ATA i.e. data transfer is done parallely. SATA is newer technology and the newest version is SATA 2 and SATAs support max of 3GBps speeds..... You should always go for SATA as it is faster, data cable's width is smaller compared to PATA, more stable; provided, ur motherboard supports SATA interface.

i think SATA hard drive is a better one. Not because it is the latest hard drive. Because it will minimize the space inside your computer. And this will avoid your computer devices from heat if there is enough air the flows inside your computer. If you compare the SATA cable to PATA Cable, PATA cable are larger than SATA cable. The disadvantage, on SATA, you can only use one hard drive for one SATA cable. Unlike in PATA cable you can put up to 2 hard drive.

mmm for a short explaination may be like this, sata is the new interface for harddisk, that theoritically faster in data transfer than the pata one, while sata it self allready have several version, from sata II , Esata, if you asking which is best, the answer offcourse sata, since its have more bandwith and also usually sata harddisk faster in actual world than pata drives, if you want to buy it one you should go for sata.

hai..!! Sata is the new interface for HDD. It stands for serial ATA. These HDD have a lower access time, larger buffer size that means faster data retrieval and better performance. PATA stands for parallel ATA. it is Out-dated. performance wise it is slower as the seek time is high. As for the purchase decission, i would suggest going for SATA as they are the market standard. offer better performance. And also offer a better price to performance ratio compared to PATA. i hope this helps.. :-)

SATA drives has faster access times than the traditional IDE (PATA) drives. It is quicker and more stable. You should absolutely opt for sATA if you have the budget. If not,IDE drives will do. =)
