a week ago, my friend got sick and was so uncoordinated in his speech. Now He can't sleep weel. We took him to the hospital and the doctor said he only need to rest. But my concern now is how can someone rest when he can't get good sleep. The doctor did not prescribe any sedative for him either. Any advice from you all please?

When I hear the term "uncoordinated" and "sleeping problems" I advice you to go see a neurologist. That might just be stress or it could be the symptoms to a more serious problem that's just waiting to attack. I've seen cases like that, it's not uncoordinated speech, it's more like slurred speech. Just go see a neurologist as soon as you can. The earlier you do that the better! Goodluck and God Bless!!!

hi,yes, rest means having sound sleep and without any hard work..sleep is important to even healthy persons also.As you mentioned, getting sleep without sedatives is a little bit hard.So make one's mind fresh, advise your friend to read books more and if he is having a habit of writing/painting/some other hobby, which can do with sitting on bed will help him to get good sleep.Hot milk before going to bed also give sound sleep.

Once your friend is relaxed the body will shut down and get sleep when he needs it. He just needs to be in the right atmosphere.

Try to find a good meditation CD. This is something that could really help. If it can help him relax enough, he might be able to sleep better. Most often, this is how I have to sleep. If I do not have my CD playing...forget it, I will be tossing and turning all night starring into the darkness. LOL And if I wake up in the middle of the night, I push play again. But you may have to but a few before you find the right one. I have bought several and out of those, I have TWO that I listen to. :) And I am sooooo grateful for these CDs!!!

The best way is to get a second opinion, tell your friend to find another doctor, that way you would know if the first doctor's opinion was right.
