I was in Holland when I was in 1st grade, so I don't remember much, but I do remember some things, but I'm not sure if it's true because i probably was HIGH or something.. Hihihi just joking! What do you remember from Holland and if it is a good thing?

I've been to North Holland back in 2002 when I attended a training at the central Netherlands (in Wageningen). In my free time, I visited Van Gogh museum and Ann Frank's house both in Amsterdam. The Red Light District there was also quite a "sight" (heheh). I also went to Zaanse Schans in the municipality of Zaanstad (lovely "outdoor" museum featuring old but still functional windmills plus beautiful cottages and shops). I was fortunate being there in April 2002 because North Holland hosted the Floriade (International Flower Festival) at Haarlemmermeer, which is held only once every ten years. The flowers were all beautiful. One thing they did for the event was to construct an artificial hill (called Big Spotters) because we all know The Netherlands has a generally flat topography.

I was in Holland in 1999 and again in 2001 (for 1 day only) I liked it but not enough to go back. I was mostly intrested in the hash cafe's, but the hash was so weak that it wasn't really worth it.

It has been about a year. I remember the bicycles, windmills, and the canals. I love the crooked, narrow buildings and the house boats in the canals.

I was in Holland for a day or so when I was in high school and then after I graduated college I spent the summer there as an au pair (glorified babysitter) and absolutely loved it. The village I stayed in was Laren. I spent a lot of time in Amsterdam (it was a short train ride) and thought it was incredible and felt more comfortable there than New York. I don't remember all the places I went to, I know Haarlem, Muiden (to the castle), Naarden, Hilversum. I saw lots of churches and architecture, windmills, Roman ruins, anglo saxon sites, prehistoric burial sites. The one thing I never saw was a tulip. I would love to go back, especially to learn more about my heritage.
