in the kitchen with your knife

why are so many people so darn scared of sharpening their kitchen knives appropriately, blaming it as the cause of cut fingers when practically, one's bound to be injured much more so with a dull knife. holding the knife improperly is another culprit. and using a freshly-sharpened knife properly and alert all the time gives nice slices of your meat and vegetables, not your fingers. agree?
