What do you think about gap years?

I passed my BAC (french exam which should be the A-level in Britain?) last year, and now I'm doing my first year of maths study. But I'm not really interested in what I'm studying, and I don't know what I want to do like other study or futur job. So I'm thinking to take a gap year. I don't know what I want exactly to do: au pair or working in a foreign country? (WWOOF for example) What's your opinion on this subject? Do you think it's the moment to take a gap year? Or do you think it's too earlier and I should wait to be more mature and have one more year of study? (I will be 18 in June) If you want to take a gap year too, why want you to take it, what want you to do, and where? (Sorry for my english, I'm french and it's a well-known fact that french aren't good in teaching and learning other languages lol. Nevertheless, I hope my message is comprehensible... It's the first time I start a new discussion on mylot)

I think you should do anything that you feel you should do with your life. Study what you want to do in the future. There's nothing wrong with taking a break from studies, alot of people do it.
