should SENTENCE TO DEATH be banned ?

extreme criminals have been sentenced to death for years in many country... but is it right? should we take a life of someone by telling him that in that day u r gonna die? is that any less torture than anything else? a criminal may have killed some person but bcoz only he is a criminal. but a society isnt a criminal... then how do we accept the fact that someone been sentenced to death??? what do u think???
