Affections means caring for someone but not necessarily means loving that person. When you love someone it means you are giving everything that would make him/her happy. Love gives you happiness in the highest level, affection- no. Affection gives you the feeling of reward, love gives you the feeling of "you belong."

I think affection, is something that is given between age groups, like parents-children, brother-sister, or teacher-student, and love it is not like that. This is what I feel personally, I am not too sure if I am right.
