Can a boy and a girl be the best of buddies?

The typical old-liner says the relation between a boy and a girl always leads to an affair. They can't be best friends without having something more than friendship between them. How far can you justify this? In my case, I've more guys as friends than girls. So i'll support the statement that a boy and a girl sure can be best buddies.

boy and a girl can surely be best buddies..but i think in this world people tend to make that feeling of love come in between and i think best friends can be the best life partners...

my best buddies in high school are boys. Why? I prefer being with them because they do not gossip. unlike girls. Besides, they pamper me with candies. they are gentlemen :)

yea, at school one of my best friends was a boy....we were really close and it helped when it came to us having relationships with other people as wwe could ask each other questions
