How do I go about changing my stepson last name?

I'm just looking for feed back on how to change my stepson last name.

it depends. is mom/dad still alive and is okaying this? if shes not go to your local courthouse and apply. my husband wants to adopt my kids but their father is stuill living and fighting it even though hes never been in their lives.

yes, my wife okayed this, and his biological father has only seen him 4 or 5 times when he was an infant, he's going on 4 this year and I'm the only father he knows day in, day out, I feel he deserves better, u know to bear the name of someone who really loves him and spends valuable time with him, thanx for the response

i totally agree. my husband has been around my daughter since she was 5 and my son was 2 months old. like you, hes the only father theyve ever know. my question is, is the father fighting you guys on it, or will he sign over his rights willingly? if hes going to fight it, you may have a very long battle ahead of you. but in the end it will all be worth it. good luck.
