Can you get marks deducted for writing too much detail?

I've never heard of anyone getting marks deducted because of too much detail. If anything, it is just the opposite. If you give one line responses, you can have points taken from you. So the more detail you want to give, the better. Unless you write a novel, then no one would read the whole thing anyway.
