Hey all, just wanted to know how many people find that Forensic Science is really interesting! I am taking this exact course right now and it is absolutely mind blowing! If anyone else is studying this, let's exchange opinions shall we?

I'm not studying forensic science but I do find it very fascinating. I was wondering if you might post your opinion about something. Does CSI do a good job at accurately representing forensic science? In what ways do they do this well and in what ways do they fail? Thanks.

It depends on the CSI who analyzes the forensic evidence.

Hi Cnetboss, thank you so much for adding to that. It's hard sometimes to put into words what you want to say when it's all rolling around in there wanting to get out. LOL i sound like a quack!! Hopefully you all get what i mean. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

WOW. Good question gotbot! From what i can see on the show, they do a good job at representing Forensics but they tend to romanticize it more for the audience. I know that they actually consult with real Forensics experts for the writing of the show. :) Thanks for that question and i hope i answered it well, lol If anyone else can add a better answer than this one, please do. lol i am still a beginner so its hard to put into words exactly what i want to say. lol know what i mean? *boy i need my coffee!* lol

I love forensics. I am planning on getting a degree in forensics with my main focus on crime scene investigation. I also have about 50 books on forensics and true crime. I love the CSI shows but they blow everything way out of proportion. I wish every crime could be solved within days instead of months or years.

:) I agree with you totally Skeletor, it would be nice if we could solve the crimes in one day but it's SO interesting just to go through the steps of reconstructing it. I also have many books on it and i NEVER tire of it at all. Thanks for responding to the thread and keep me posted on your progress in the course, if you ever want to chat about the procedures just give me a holler, you know i love to talk *grins*

How very interesting! Are you taking classes at a local school? You must fill us in on the details. I have a lot of admiration for those that can do that tiny little picky work ~Donna

I love the csi shows! I think that must be one of the more rewarding jobs out there today (Forensic Science I mean). How could we survive without people like you helping to solve the crimes. I think it's absolutely fascinating the different techniques they use on tv...although I do realize it is tv and I'm sure it dramatized but still and all, I think it would make a great career. One in which you could feel you were doing some good for society. Best of luck in your studies.

Awww! Thank you so much for the well wishes. It is a nice thought to know that i will be helping others. Law has always been a passion for me but when i hurt my knee, police academy was out of the question so this is the next best thing. I am still in the Law Enforcement field so i am happy with that. Already have my Private Investigators certification so this is just the icing on the cake. lol Thanks for responding to the thread everyone! *hugs* from Quebec

I'm a big fan of CSI too, though I really mis Grisom...Where the heck is he? Anyway I really find the movie informative, and wanting I notice though mostly the people who commit the crime are those closest to the victim...it could be the mother, father, brother, sister, boyfriend, girlfriend, bestfriend or those people you will never really thought that could so such thing...well except those serial killings stuffs...those ofcourse are made of the professionals.I really love CSI, I actually keep notes of those things that they say so when I decided to end someone's life I know exaclty what to do so I can get away from it....hahahahah(Evil laugh)...lol

Actually what's really interesting is the analysis based the evidence using Forensic Science. Gil Grissom is the best in terms of analysis because of his very thorough on his observations.

I do enjoy watching CSI too. I read an interview with a Filipino-American forensic expert in a local magazine. She says it was pretty boring. She spends most her time in the laboratory analyzing evidence. She added that though she loves her job, it was not as exciting as watching it in the series in the long haul. Good luck on you studies, though.

Yes i think Forensic Science is a really great thing. You uncover remnants of the past and put them together drawing a conclusion. I am a fan, but don't think it will work for me as a career of study. I just might pass out. Hehe. But i do love watching CSI, very interesting and informative. :)

LOL you are funny hart! And umm...i forgot the lass's name who responded first *blush* but thank you so much for wishing me luck! It is not as boring as the forensic expert made it sound though. I am learning alot! I am in the process now of dna and evidence collection and it is SO cool! Its amazing just how many areas there are to this field. I was thinking about just doing the general evidence collection from crime scenes but now i am thinking more along the lines of specializing in anthropology (study of bones). It's SO cool! Sorry if i am boring anyone with this, its nice to have something that i am passionate about.

I've always found forensic science interesting and in the past thought about pursuing it myself, but I couldn't get through the science of it. I like science, but I don't want to use it all the time. I think though that if forensic science was more like what CSI shows it would be very fun to do. But like others have said, it is a lot more boring in real life or so I've heard. They don't get to solve the crimes, they just analyze what they are given.

i am planning on taking the course myself but being realistic. forensic science is hyped up by the show. i think overall forensic science is an awesome career. but i don't think what happens on the show happens in real life.
