The Philippines, my country has been considered as the home of the overseas workers. It seems that half of the population has gone off to some other country trying to find their luck and working their butts off in order to earn money for their family back home. Every now and then, airports are filled with crying passengers, saying goodbye to their relatives and friends wishing them luck and success in another man's domain. A world that is far different from their culture, their beliefs, away from their family, away from all securities in the world. With them, they bring hope that through their sacrifice, they will be able to feed their children, send them to school and achieved the life that they have always dreamed of. And as they step off the plane, into the land of strangers, this overseas workers are overwhelmed. They instantly feel the pangs of homesickness and wished that they could be with their family, in their own bed, in their own country where everything is familiar, not strange. Where they are comfortable, and they can be themselves. Yet, they know that they must work, work, work, be practical in order to survive life. In life, sacrifices need to be made. And in their field, its either, be with your family but feel hungry everyday or be away from them, but you will be able to give them a good life. Isn't it strange? How man thinks for others when the time really comes? This scenario, is the scenario of the people in our country who goes to certain foreign lands, bringing with them hopes and thus, they are called our country's modern heroes. All is well, until hope turns to despair. When all of a sudden, news came into their loved ones ears here in the Philippines, when they suddenly found out that the person that they sent off in the airplane as a human being, whole and human, is sent back to them in a square box. Dead, not breathing, cold, and sometimes, other body parts are missing. Why? Why let this things happen? Should this really be the fate of the people who goes to other countries? Go their to work and come back dead? What's the point? Hope was suppose to be out there. And in just an instant, all hope fades. Curtains are closed, and the music stops playing. Tell me, is it just to treat overseas workers as slaves rather than human? Why? What's the difference between them and their employers? Actually, this question has been on my mind for quite some time now, why don't you help me with my query?

I know.. I'm glad that you think so. It just really makes me sad whenever I see news on the television about OFW's (Overseas Filipino Workers) who come home in a coffin because their employers either tried to rape them or either kill them for no reason at all. Thanks for your response.
