You can't unless you kennel them. Our cats do the same thing. Random times of the day and nigt they "wake up" and rip through the house. It can be a pain but it is their play time.

well i believe my cats sleep all day. then when i get home from work they are still sleeping. so i would say the 3 of my cats "actually" arise from bed is around 12 at night and they run around, i have one that plays with toys and cries all night. i wake up and there is a pile of nerf darts and mice on my floor. they are hissing and picking at my bed. i cannot lock them out of my room or they will cry outside the door or pick at it. i just don't pay attention anymore. when i spend the night at someone elses house, i can't believe what a good nights sleep i get. : ) so i don't think there is anything you can do, put a fan on at night on high so you don't hear the noise.

A cat's gota do what a cat's gota do. It is ever so lovely finding the mess that they make when you wake up.
