Out of all honesty, I am getting tired of the people on deviantart "leading" the literature trend with terrible, unfounded ideas. I don't post my literature to any section other than visual poetry anymore because I'm tired of the crap that they do. There is no more thumbs, and there is no order! But other than that, what is your primary focus @ dA? Why? Would you ever consider changing it to become "more popular" ?

1 2 mothereffing 3, darling. In case you forgot, that means i agree with you completely. DevArt has made a change for the worst. More and more ignorant people have joined and are thusly posting their uncreative "art" and making the place look bad for everyone lse. i'm very sick of it, and i am thinking of leaving just like my beloved. Sure, i will have to lose contact with a few people i really enjoy, but i still might go ahead with it. i'm just sick of it all. i generally post poetry, often get very few respnses, though when people DO resond, it is complimentary, i don't think it is too much to ask for people on my friends list to respond to journals i have posted. It is hard enough for me to share, but then to get nothing from it is an insult. i make a point to read everything my friends post, even if i generally don't like their pieces. i give constuctive criticism and tell them what i think, being gentle if i think their piece was crap. i don't think it would be too hard for them to do the same. my primary focus on DA is to get things out of me. To express. In many ways, i don't care if people don't read my poetry. It is for me, regardless of what it is about, and not for them. i would never change my focus to become more popular. Popularity is over rated.

I generally use my dA account to upload my photography and photomanipulations. This is where I find most of my creativity comes from. I do have a few poems up but not many. Usually the only literature that I read are those of my friends on the site - unless I see a really good one that is featured or someone else turns me onto something.

I don't know why I still go, seeing as hardly anybody reads literature, and of those that do, hardly anybody reads poetry, and of those that do, nobody reads songs, and that's all I really submit. Ah well. It's a release.

So don't worry about who reads it or not. Write to write. Talk to other people about it, share your stuff. If it catches a person's eye, they'll come back, and keep coming back.
