My dog cleans himself on the walls!

One of my two dogs, who is a bit of a mix dog, has this really annoying habit to clean himself on the wall. First he cleans his nose, and later on he walks along the wal and rubb himself against it on both sides. The result is that I have to clean after him every 2 days, else the walls will be impossible to clean ever, and of course it looks really nasty! He has always done that but lately it has become like a ritual for him to do it. Does anybody out there have a dog with the same problem? What would you do?

Mine does it, but only against the couch and the floor - my previous dog did the same, but again preferred the softer couch to something like a wall. I'd say it's something instinctual, though there's probably some way to get around it ... I wish I had a better answer for you, but I wish you luck!

Maybe you should wash your dog instead of washing the walls RoFL .. sorry :"

Hehehe good thinking but that just works for one day, most of the time after a shower he goes roll himself outside in the garden ;) He also has skin issues so the vet advised us not to wash him too often either so unfortunately the shower thing is not an option.

I have a teacup poodle and everytime she takes a bath she shakes then runs around and goes all crazy (I think because she feels so good and clean!) and she rubs her face and body along the bottoms of my couch, back and forth and back and forth. She does this over and over again I guess until she feels content on stopping! She's small so it's way at the bottom of the couch. It doesn't bother anyone or dirty anything because she's clean...it's funny and we all think it's cute and funny!
