I am sceptical of the anti-depressants, except in extreme cases. It must not be a regualr treatment procedure. Depressed people need support from others. If the family members are made aware of this, and if they can do something to brighten up the depressed person's days, that would go a long way. And so can friends be involved. In a way every one of us are apt to go through such a phase in life, and there is no need to think of them as weak people. Inclusiveness would be the best therapy.
