Considering that you don't know how to speak japanese, have you ever thought of learning any of this languages? Me, I would like to know how to speak japanese since I like a lot of things in japanese culture, such as martial arts, anime, movies and food for example and I have a couple of eBooks and audio-books to learn the basis of japanese but I've never been really into doing it, I've learned some words in anime and things like that but I'd like to know how to make complete senteces even though their language (both japanese and chinese) is really different from ocidental languages and it will be really difficult for sure. Have you ever thought of learning this language or do you share this interest in japanese culture with me?

I study Japanese (been studying for um, maybe 2-3 years now). I like to learn new languages, so I thought that, out of all the mainstream asian ones, Japanese would be the most accessible. I like some Japanese things, but not everything. I don't like how people act like "japanophiles", assuming that everything in Japan is perfect and terrific. That bothers me. Every country has unique things. I'd also like to learn Russian, Finnish or Swedish. Especially Finnish/Swedish, as I'd like to move to Finland or Sweden :) But those languages are a bit tricky for someone who speaks Romance languages :(

Thanks for your reply but just to clear things out let me say that I DON'T think everything in Japan is perfect... of course there are good and bad things as it is with any other country... I just said that there are a couple of things I like about Japanese culture.

I didn't mean to imply that was your case, just that it happens so often! If you mention you like something japanese, people often mistake you for a japanophile :|

yeah.. like you.. i also want to learn japanese and i like their culture. My uncle is a japanese and when i live in his house I am used with their speaking. Before, I noticed that my Auntie and my uncle shout with each other. I ask my auntie why and she said its normal for the Japanese. When i live there for vacation i learn many things that stucked up in my mind about japanese. Everything about japanese.

wow... that's cool for you, having someone in your family whom is japanese must help a lot when you're trying to learn that language or know more about the country. Thanks for your reply.

i'm also quite interested in the japanese culture. they really seemed to have established a colorful culture. they also have an array of animation that i think a lot of people from different countries enjoy. i know that they have a quite difficult language. but probably because of the animation i'll find it fun in learning the language.

Thanks for your reply, and yes... it must be painful for someone from ocident try to learn japanese or chinese because it has nothing to do with what we are used to here but I still think it's possible with much training.

i started being interested with japan and its culture when i was in high school. i have a japanese classmate and we are both anime lovers. she used to tell me stories when she was still living in japan. since then, i became fascinated with their culture. i sort of outgrew the fascination for anime, 'cause i now focus more on the culture. i also took japanese language lessons in my university and i am planning to study in japan, hopefully in the near future.

I had an interest in Japan starting from a couple years ago. It started from a simple manga. Now I'm seriously excited about visiting Japan soon. I'm learning as much about the culture as I can. I'm trying to self teach the language using Internet sites. So far I'm just working on speaking and listening. Watching anime tends to be practice understanding Japanese and entertaining.
