Traveling to New York

I am considering going to New York in May. I was just wondering if anyone knows any good publishing places in New York. Also what are places in New York that you would recommend me visiting. I've never been to New York and I know there's a lot to see, so if I could narrow it down to what is best to see, it would probably be easier.
