Barbie Vs. Bratz

So ok help me out here... I recall growing up a big controversy over Barbie... People saying what a sk-nk she was and how she showed an unrealistic image of beauty and it was teaching little girls to be shallow... Well here's my view on this... Barbie was considered to be in her 20s. Altho an unrealistic image of beauty have you seen some of the action figures out there? EVERY female made has a serious unrealistic image of beauty. Not just Barbie... but a lot of little girl toys do. I also happen to remember (and still see) Barbie being fashionablenot skanky... there IS a difference. There were also Barbie dolls of her being married and having children. Now consider the Bratz dolls... they're supposed to be what... 16 at the most? Not only are the POUNDED with make up that just begs for someone in a car to stop by and ask "How much?" they're clothes are just not appropriate in any way. Do you know who plays with these? Little girls... it shows these little girls that it's not only ok to paint your face up like a clown and and if possible give yourself DSL... but that it's ok to dress that way in public when you're NOT going to a club (which is the only place I could see reasonable to dress like that). Not just that but have you seen the Bratz baby dolls? They even have their baby dolls dressed up in crop tops and mini skirt and thick heavy make up... That's not fashion... that's just distasteful, especially for the age group at which it's targeted. Does anyone agree or disagree or have their own point to make about either of these dolls? I'd love to hear:)

I agree with ya! Most of my family members make it be known that there's a "no bratz" rule, like don't buy that stuff for their girls! I played with Barbie's, I pretended they were getting married, having children, you know-make believe stuff. What do girls pretend with Bratz dolls? I don't think I could type that here!

Haha same here! I also used to play Soap Opera with my Barbies (when sleeping together literally meant just sleeping in the same bed together)... With Bratz I don't see how you could possibly imagine anything other than the nonappropriate imaginative stories they must come up with. lol. The moment I saw the commercial for those dolls I always said that when I had children if they were still around any daughters of mine would NOT be getting them... I'll supply them with a buncha Barbies tho :-p Oh and is it just me? Or even as clean cut as Ken was... he was at least depicted as a rugged type of guy sometimes... These Bratz boys look... well a little too pretty.
