What is happening to our teenagers? Involved in gangs, drugs, alcohol.

Yesterday, I heard that some teenagers had a fight near a high school. They are in gangs and ended up shooting themselves. They killed a teenager and shot two of them, including a girl in her back but she was not dead. And where are their parents, by the way? But that's not the end of the story, they were going to meet after school today to fight again. I fear for my teenager since he is in that same high school. He came running from school to my house because he didn't want to see anything or become involved and he was telling me this story. What do you think? Should we do something about it?

I am not sure what we can do as individuals, except raise kids who do not want to be involved in the trouble. I would fear for my child too.Encourage good kids to stand together against gang involvement. I know that is why some people put their kids in private school, or they homeschool. That is why people move. Some cannot move. We need to vote for leaders who will spend the money and hire the forces to help control the gangs. Then we need to be offerring things that mean more to them than the gangs.

I always talk to my 14 year old about not hanging out with gangs. To always be careful, to choose well his friends. Yes, we as parents need to educate our children and pray for them.

This is one reason why I homeschool. They are out of control and the parents are at the root of it. Basically training the kids from very little could have prevented a big part of this strife. Now the authorities should already be involved, if not, remove your kid(s) from school now and homeschool or christian or private school. Your kids deserve a chance to grow up and become contributing members of society. Good luck with this serious situation.

Thank you. You could do it. Our system we use has teacher books and scannable tests and the company Christian Liberty is there to help when you have a problem. They also have online tutorials for subjects too. Pray can do wonders and we can only hope that the angels can cover that school and make peace the rule and not rage. I stand with you my friend!!

I don't think they fought again. The police was warned out and they were there after school.

That's good that you get involved with your kids. If you teach them how to behave and good morals you shouldn't be afraid of them getting into gangs.

Yes, it's their parents responsibility to teach them good morals and to respect others.

yes, it's scary but there's nothing we can do about those kids already in gangs. The only thing to do is pray about them and teach our children good morals and get involved with them in their school activities and studies.

I belive that the violence has gone to far but I also belive that it is hard to get rid of. Here in sweden things also has started to escalate and it is scary to see how young they are when they get involved. I am not really sure how we can get it through to them that this is not the way of life - that all life shoudl be respected and cared for!

I think parents should be more involved with their kids. To teach them good morals and talk to them a lot.

I know that if my kids were in a school with things like that happening the way I would deal with it would be to take them out of the school. You can't change the way other kids behave, the only thing you can do is to make sure your own kids are safe and don't behave like it.

The bad thing, it's the same in the other schools around our home. Gangs are everywhere. I don't know if I should change him from this school.

Kids have changed a lot I know that much. When I was growing up I smoked and drank. But I know my parents weren't allowed to do those things when they were growing up.

When both parents are working they need to be more near to their kids and advise them. Have a quality time together each day and in the old days, only the father worked. Maybe that's the difference from today.
