my father is suffering from osteoarthiris - please help

my father age almost 55yrs..is suffering from osteo arthiritis for about a decade..treatments were done but to no effect .. both of his legs have been malshaped and his bones are breaking up continuously - as the x-rays have revealed..doctors have told that the only treatment left is knee replacement.. but unfortunately we dont have that much money so that we can afford it .. so inthis scenario please friends do help me how to make my dad a little better if not the best
