To spank or not to spank? Is spanking an effective way of disciplining kids? As some say, spanking is not illegal but bruising the child is. What do you think?

Spanking a child is a crime in sweden and in Northern coutries. Even by parents. If You do it, You`ll get procequted and gett hefty fines or a prison centense. I think that our law is good and the barbaric custom to hit children is very bad.

There are different aspects of bruising a child. It's more on the frequency and the manner of the act. Once or twice of spanking is just enough to make the child realize the wrongness that he commits. It is just a matter of explaining the do's and don'ts to the child to make him aware the consequences of his actions.

personally, i think sometimes it is necessary but only on extreme need. sometimes we have to make it clear to a child that there is consequence to every actions be it good or bad. but, parents should not make it a habit everytime the child makes mistakes.

Spanking for me is just a palm on a diapered bottom. My toddler doesn't even noticed it sometimes but she knows if I show her the hand, she has to behave. I can never understand parents who hurt their kids so much they end up hospitalizing them.

That is also the same question i have for myself whether i should spank my kid or not. I tried to be patient and not spank him at all mistake he does only if he is out of control and does his tantrum and would not listen when i ask him not to do it. after i spank him though i tell him what he had done wrong. i think occassional spanking should not cause harm to the kid, its for his discipline anyway.
