I downloaded Firefox and then found that it just wasn't for me. Hence, I deleted it. However, my shortcuts on my desktop now keep asking for Firefox when I try to open them. Did I not get it all off my machine and if not how do I go about getting rid of every trace of this browser?

Either you didn't uninstall it properly or most likely, you had Firefox set as your default browser, so every time you try to open a link, it wants to open up in Firefox. Go to your internet options and try to set IE as the default browser. I'd try to walk you through it, but I try to avoid IE as much as possible.

some uninstaller program not cleaning your computer totally some still leave temp file or folder on your computer also registry file. the easy way to remove it just remove that program from your computer by add or remove programs in your control panel. if they not cleaning the shortcut etc, I suggest you to try this program called registry mechanic.

Uninstall it or try delete all shortcuts and registrey keys if found any in reghistry editor..by searching for keyword firefox. Uninstall will not uninstal it as u have already deleted ..so try installing once again and then uninstalling or delete any keys as stated above
