I have always picked computers with Pentium processers, but I see a lot of new ones with AMD. Does it really matter? Are there any important differences?

I think pentium is better as against AMD. I have worked on both for more than 6 yrs now... The AMD tends to get hotter in summers and in hot countries like India its tends to get shut down a lot of times. Pentium on the other hand has a premium sink system... probably the best... which keeps the temp down...

there is difference between them if yuo are choosing processor for gameing and things like that you have to go for the amd processor and for the simple work you always go for the pentium the best option availabe to you and more reliable too. yes it is fact now everybody is going for the amd porcessor but you have to take that the amd processor gets easily hot and requires cool place to give better performance to the user of the computer......the amd has captured big market of the pentium but it will saturate after some time then people will definatly go for the pentium processor and old is gold this is not true in the feild of computer you ahve to be with race of speed in the computer.i am amd user but my computer is not in the cool place it get hang after if i opens large number of files or process on the processor....if i want to suggest anybody about processor then i definatly suggest for the pentium processor one.......

i think amd is the latest senssation. it is better, reliable and also cheap.intel days are gone. and i think they dnt match the technology of amd and that is the reason for the last 2 3 years amd is getting a good response from the market. even i am using amd for last 8 years. i had a amd k6 and then i got amd athlon xp and let me tell u i am very much satisfied. and now i am waiting for an upgrade to amd dual core. lets see when i can do that

i prefer AMD since i am using one.I use AMD because --comparatively cheap --high performance --high stabilty --greater support for gaming i recommned AMD FX 64 bit computing. It has many advantage over intel pentium 4 processors.but i heard that intel pentium duo core2 is much better than other precedures and a like performance with AMD 64.so i f you are going to buy a new computer either you go for AMD FX 64 or Pentium 4 Duo core 2.

Intel's Pentium series ruled for a long time but now a days AMD is major ruler because the processor that they recently lauched are more speedy and very effective ones as compared to Pentiums. AMD processors are also very good for any kind of graphics or gaming work.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to help my brother-in-law. He is an architect so the AMD may be better for him in terms of graphics.

in my opinion, compatibility is very important in computer. so i prefer Pentium to AMD. some new one use AMD, i think it mainly because of the price and market showing. that's it all.
