Julia will be 1 year old on March 21. She has had this rash on her face for a couple of months now. This picture actually makes it look alot better than it really is. The rash will look real bad then start to look better. You think oh good its finally going away then bamb its bad again. I dont think its baby acne. My other 2 kids had the baby acne and it looks nothing like theirs did. It started under her chin. So I thought it was from teething. Then over time it spread around the mouth and up the cheek a little bit. So then I ruled out the rash was from teething. What do you think it is? Sorry the picture is blurry. I could not get a better close up my daughter kept moving and kept trying to grab the camera.

My 18 month old son has this same looking "rash" on his stomach/chest. The ped. told me that it was most likely just from moisture from him getting himself wet so often with his sippy cups or playing in his water table, etc. and it was nothing to be concerned about. He told me a lot of babies get it on their faces if they drool a lot or if they're out in significantly cold weather. :)

My daughter has the same rash--it is from her drooling all the time. She will be 1 at the beginning of April. She has it on her neck, too. It is related to a yeast infection (from all the wetness). I use anti-fungal cream (like for athlete's foot) on her throat area but there isn't much you can do around the mouth. It will probably clear up once she is done with the drooling stage (which could be sometime after she turns 1).

My son also my daughter have something like you discriving but not only in the face but also in the body. The doctor said it was eczema due to dry skin and alergies. When it is very bad, it is treaten with some cortisone products, when the skin is ok i always put some special hydratant like cetaphil. Hope the child will get better but this kind o things comes and goes all the time. I think polution plays a big part in all this alergies and skin problems.

I think it just looks like she's chapped from drooling. Put a thin layer of vasaline on it, especially when you are going to take her outside, it should go away in no time! Good Luck!

My son had something similar around his neck, we never figured out what caused it, but the pediatrician prescribed cortisone cream and a barrier cream. After using that, it went away. We also kept it aired out, clothing would just chafe it. But my son has really sensitive skin, we can't use any soap on him with sulfates, so we use castille soap and make sure it's rinsed well. We also can't use the regular baby wash on his hair either. Allergies can just pop up out of nowhere. I hope it goes away soon!

My son has sensitive skin too, and he also has rashes on his face, and sometimes her arms, or even legs. His pediatrican prescribes Hydrocortisone .5% cream for him, and it gets so much better. But again, you need to consult your dr. before using it because the cream does contain steroid. His pediatrican also suggests us to put Cetaphil lotion instead of baby lotion on him. This is a wonderful cream, and it helps A LOT. A must have for dry skin. Try it.

well, it might be because of the sensitive skin... the only thing that i can think about is may be it is because of the food that she eat or the soap that she use during her bath... you might want to consult the doctor and ask the doctor the reason why... the doctor might be able to prescribe you with a proper medicine for your daughter... good luck...

Thank you everyone for your replies. You gave me alot to think about. I tried Aveeno cream tonight and it looks so much better than it did. It seems like I have tried everything else and nothing seemed to work. So hopefully this will do it.

It looks like one or two things the first it could be thrush which you can try canesten cream bought over the counter at the pharmacy for . secondley it may be a reaction to a food she is eating she may have an allergy and the only way to find out what it could be is to put her on a very bland diet and then introduce one different food at a time and see which she reacts to . sorry but thats all that i can suggest at this time .I hope you can find out what it is .all the best

I think this is due to sensitive skin ur baby have. My baby also have sensitive skin. Doc says that when she get older, the rash or whatever will disappear. I used Oilatum Soap and cream doc gave us. We use it day and night. Now, the rash or infection became slow and disapear. I hope ur baby will recover soon. Please aware that babies will keep putting her fingers in mouth. This dirty dusk or whatever will swallowed by babies. I hope ur baby will be fine. Don't worry.

It would be best to take her in and have her pediatrician look at it. They will see it close up and be able to diagnose it correctly. Rashes can be caused by many different things and a lot of them look almost the same but are different. I'm sorry to not be able to help you out on this one. I'de be really upset with myself if I told you to use the wrong product to treat her and the rash gets worse.

First thing you should do is consult your doctor. How come you're posting this problem here rather than consulting with your doctor first? It might be a minor problem but whatever it is, you should seek help from professionals immediately. Anyhow, I just want to share that when I was a baby I had some red marks on my eye, arm and back. They were just small but distinct and my parents thought that it was a rash. They kept putting ointments on it but after a while they found out that they were birthmarks. So I have three strawberry birthmarks and we regarded it as lucky. Now, I am 25 years old and the marks are almost gone. It's just like an eye-shadow on my eyelid. It turned out to be a compliment on my face.

The reason why I am posting here instead of takeing her to the doctor first is because we dont not have health insurance. We make to much money to get any type of help but dont make enough to pay for it ourselves (its over $800.00 a month for very crappy health insurance). And now with it being tax time Uncle Sam took every last penny we had. So I figured to try to see if there was something I can do to help the rash go away until she is able to see a doctor and to pay for the medicine if needed.

Take her to the doctor. Especially if it is spreading. An absolutely adorable baby. But free advice is worth just what you pay for it. Please get medical advice. It could be so many things and you wont know for sure till you take her to the doctor and they take a look at it.

have you read some of her other replys? She can't afford to take her to the doctors because they make to much for any type of help with health insurance. I do hope that some of these treatment are tried. I did have the same problem with my daughter and it was from the droling but i got it to go away with a type of hand cream. Please do let us know how things turn out if you where able to try any of the remidies.

Is the water really limey because maybe this is irritating her skin but it does really look like she is drolling too much and its irritating her. Maybe put on a wee bit of bum ream on her face and she'll be fine.

My 21 month old has very sensitive skin. We have to use newborn wipes and only Luvs or Huggies other wise he gets bad diaper rashes. Store bought cream only makes it worse so we have to take him to the doctor for a prescription cream every time. He gets spots and rashes on his face a lot. They're caused by soap and contact with certain foods mostly. We're still trying to figure out all the triggers. It seems like pretty much everything causes it, so really it's more like figuring out what we can use on him. Try eliminating your baby wash or any other facial products. If it's only caused by them you should see an improvement after a few days. If the rash is on the chin or around the mouth still you'll have to look at possible food triggers. For my son it isn't eating the food that causes the rash, it's having the food come in contact with his skin. If you suspect your daughter is having the same problem you'll have to figure out what food causes it and either feed them to her yourself or at least have a a cloth ready to wipe it off her face immediately. Even then it might be hard to get cleared up if she still drools. By the way our doctor wasn't the one to figure it out either, we had to on our own.

My daughters skin used to do that a lot when she was teething. The doctor said it because there is a lot of bacteria in your mouth. She would chew on her fingers because of the teething, then as she would slobber, she would spread it around on her face. She had very sensitive skin, so it would get all irritated and chaffed. He gave me some cream to put on her. I don't remember what it was, but it worked very well. You should ask her pediatrician.

It looks like dry chapped skin to me. Have you tried putting Aquaphor on it to see if it goes away. I would try that to see if it gets better.

It could be eczema! sounds like what my sister's baby had on her face. Have you checked with your family doctor? they would probably prescribe some cream/ointment that you would need to put on her face several times a day. I would get it checked out soon.

My niece who was born last moth also has rashes in her face. My cousin says the rashes are slowly disappearing. I hope the rashes would all be gone so that they will look good.
