How do I stop my dog from stealing off the kitchen work tops?

She is a rotty so can reach the work tops and take anything she wants (which is everthing). She only does it when i'm not looking, and before anyone says don't leave things on the work tops i try not to but if theres ever one thing i forgot or a visitor puts down she is off with it. Any ideas?
