What is the signigance of the April 13 New Year. Will you tell us please? I am guessin the Jan. 1 New Year is to coincide with the rest of the world, right?

In our country we celebrate new year 2 times that is one is 1st Jaunary Engligh New Year and second is 1st of Baishakh that is Bengali New Year. Festival to celebrate new year is mostly enjoyable at 1st Baishakh as our per our custom or tradition. People arrange popular song, eat popular food that peasant eat everyday, fair of traditional goods that make in rural areas say handicraft, flute, earthen pottery etc. what not available in this fair. From little to 80 yrs. old person enjoy it very much. English new year we celebrate from 12:01 a.m. of 31st December when people do not sing any song just make huge gathering at open road or park and some time dance or walk through street for fun.

I am American and we only have one new year, which is January first. I can only handle one of these a year. We have a big gathering of my daughters friends and we have lots of food and music and later movies. We have been celebrating new years like this since my daughter was little. Since she was born I would not leave her a lone on a major holiday so I made it her holiday. I even take in some of her friends so that their parents can go out for the holiday.

In India we celabrate many times the function of New Year Eve. As usual like you 1st January along with world people. There after as per regional calender's for different communities. In real terms we celabrate more than 20 times in different parts of country. Because ours is sovereign country, we honor all communities and castes.
