Would you be okay with your mom dating a guy you went to school with? I don't care about the whole younger guy thing, she has always done that...but this guy is my age!! AND it is someone I know!!!! I think that makes all the difference right there.

I have to say I think it is wrong and gross. I am 30 years old and my mom is dating someone younger then me, four years younger then me! This guy is alos younger then my sister and only three years older then my brother, and four years older then my baby sister. My mom has always dated younger guys but it seems as she get older the guys she dates get younger. I am going for my masters in psychology and I can see whats going on here. But I also know I am too close to the situation so I got some input from my professors. They said that she only dates these people cuz it makes her feel better about her self. She's looking for someone or something exturnal to make her feel better about whatever issues she is dealing with. One of them, most likely, getting older. Thats not a healthy thing to do for anyone in any type of relationship. Also, that if she thinks she connects with him on an intellectual and social level then she is either fooling her self, rationalizing, or she has issues of her own. But, he also said that if no one is getting hurt it's not my busniess. I have no right to tell her who to date or,act like a jerk and make her feel bad for her choice. We have all voiced what we think and just have to let her do her thing. We don't like it, she knows it, and thats thats. She thinks shes happy.

That would freak me if my mom was dating a man younger than me, but my mom was 39 when she had me so it would be a huge age difference.

Good for her? I don't see a problem with this, but it is not my mom! Do you have a problem with her dating someone your age?

That is kind of messed up but maybe that's her way of feeling young again! If she's happy, there's probably nothing you could do about it.
