I really depends upon the kid. I'm no expert, but I did just potty train my 3 year old son. We tried getting him comfortable with the idea since he was 2, like having a seat for him in the bathroom, talking to him about it, that kind of stuff. It wasn't until he would tell us that his diaper was wet that I felt he was ready. It took about 2 days for him to really get the hang of it. After 1 week he was completely trained. During that week the only accidents he had were because he was too lazy to go into the potty. I'd catch him crossing his legs and denying he had to go, and them boom, he'd have an accident. One piece of advice I have is that you can't half-heartedly do it. If you think they are ready, then you have to be 110% into it - committed. I put him in underwear, was on him like a moth to a flame, and put every ounce of energy I had into making it work AND making him excited about making it work. If you are not committed, and YOU get lazy, they will get lazy. Oh, and it's amazing what the promise of a sticker or especially a handful of M&M's will do to motivate a kid! Good luck!

at 2 years if the child shows sings that he/she is interested and ready to start there are no reasons to hold it off. what worked for me and my daughter was the sticker charts. every time my daughter went to the bathroom she got two stickers. one for her chart and one for her hand. when she finished the chart she got a present. she was trained in just a couple of weeks.

I think it depends on the child. Some can handle it a 2 years and others not until 3 years. I saw an article in a magazine about training them at 6 months. I didn't get a chance to read it.

I think that 6 months is way too young to start potty training it is like putting a child thought school rather or not that child can read
