I'm on the path to a healthy lifestyle.

As some of you are more than aware - I recently quit smoking. 8th of January it was to be precise and as of that day I made an improvement to my body not just by not smoking. I started drinking two litres of water to initially kill off the cravings but now I enjoy the benefits of it. I started eating alot more fruit. Before the most I ever had was Banana in my desert. Now I am trying all sorts and must admit that the kiwi is by far my favourite so far. Now if their is salad served with my food I eat it. Before I would have specified that I didn't want salad. Right okay, I could be making it in the house and eating it daily but lets not get too ahead yet. But.......... Today I went FOOD SHOPPING!!! SOmething I am not a fan of. I like to buy each meal as I have it but I weas sick of never being prepared enough to eat three decent meals a day. So I bought the fruit, yoghurt, crackers, low fat this and low fat that and fat free milk and something which shocked me.PRE&PRO BIOTIC DRINKS. You know the ones you see advertised on the telly. You drink alottle bottle everyday and suddenly you'll feel rejevenated. now I don't know whether these things work or not and a few weeks ago I would have told you to spend your money on some chippy instead (For those of you who don't know - its a fastfood place that sells potato deep fried and its greasy) So what do you think??? Does it all just keep escalating??? Make one healthy decision and the rest will follow??? Do you eat like I am doing or do you not care for all this?? Any tips for me!

congratulations for the achievement! your post should surely serve as an inspiration for the others to quit smoking! prebiotics are stuff in the food which we cannot digest and so cannot absorb - but they help in growth of certain other bacteria in the intestines which have several health benefits. and these bacteria are called probiotics. probiotics are not normally present in our intestines - so they have to be taken with food. they are not essential for life or good health, but they sure have a lot of bonus 'good health' points! some of these are prevention of colon cancer, blood pressure and cholesterol lowering, improved immunity and good digestion and absorption. you are right - make one healthy decision and the rest follow for sure. the very fact that you made a healthy decision indicates that you are now more conscious about your health - naturally you are attracted towards more healthy choices!! one thing i should recommend is a daily dose of regular exercise - starting slowly and building it up to suit your personal time and ability needs. once you start feeling good after you exercise, you will always want to continue!! i have just started writing a blog about exercising - it is far from complete yet, but i think you can visit it to get a picture for starters. and if you like it, you may revisit it for more updates! go to http://cacoxercise.blogspot.com/ good luck and good health!

Good for you,its after 3 weeks so its no longer a habit. You will come to realise how unfit you were,so now you have to look at some fitness program. If you just start with some power walking 3x30 min per wk and built up as you go.I take those drinks instead of breakfast. In a blender ----your fav-fruit,2 tablespoon of soy protein 95, 2 tablespoon of Whey 100% protein,2tablespoon of soy Lecithin,1 teaspoon of Creatine,1 teaspoon of Glutamine,1 teaspoon of msm powder,2 tablespoon of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar,Orange juice to top.

Congratulations :) I hope you will keep on this road :) I started eating and living healthy very early in my life and I find myself now much healthier than those around my age :) it's not just food, you should also make sport/physical activities an important part of your life... this really helps, many people think it's only important for losing weight, i never needed to lose weight but I always train as a lifestyle and I actually enjoy it :)

Hearty congrats! It takes 42 days to change a habit and you have only a few days left for this. Keep it up. You are on a high now. Yes one good thing leads to another since you are freed of your earlier guilt feelings. And it is GOOD! Consume less of sugar (Glucose) switch to fructose if possible. Congratulations once again.

42 day period is known as a Mandala in Eastern philosophies. This safely eliminates physical craving if any completely. Then what remains is psychological craving which comes in fits and starts. While it can strike at any time, during low moods one is more vulnerable. The point to be remembered during this period is any craving lasts only a few minutes. Take deep breadths, divert your mind and the craving passes away.

Well congratulations on making the big decision to be healthier! Sounds like you're really going all out and making a big effort with this...I think it's great. My boyfriend is a smoker and I appreciate the water tip, I never thought of suggesting that to him. Unfortunately I can't say that I do eat like you but I promised my boyfriend that when he quit smoking that I'd take an extra step and do something for my own health..so we'll see!!

Congratulations on quitting smoking!!! That is wonderful and you should be so proud of yourself. I quit 10 years ago when I got pregnant with my daughter. The thing is too, you will find that before long you can't stand the smell of it. I think us reformed smokers are worse then people who never ever smoked in their life. You have done a great thing though and taking the healthy approach to life is terrific. Most people gain weight when they quit smoking but you have not let that happen. Good for you!! My thing is I need to lose weight so sooner then later I have to take on my own healthy approach to eating.

Quitting smoking was a great decision. I would forget the Biotic drinks for now. Why do you need to feel rejuvenated? You are young and should be full of energy. Instead of eating 3 meals, I would eat 5 or 6 smaller ones. This will keep your metabolism working steady. Add in some exercise and you will feel better in no time. Eating healthier will go a long way toward improving how you feel. Some chippy once in a while won't hurt. Everyone needs few treats now and then. It won't automatically escalate unless you keep making the proper choices. It is up to you to decide what to eat and how to treat your body. You have made a great start. Add in a few healthy foods at a time and keep the junk foods to a minimum. Forget the diets, the pills and the supplements and you will do fine.

Good Job! Congratulation! I think that one of the best thing that you have done is quitting smoking. I have no question about your present meal scheme or diet thats a good one. Also your are drinking a lot of water that is my dear excellent, this things replenish your body. But don't forget that even if you have a good diet, you need to burn of what you take. Don't forget to do some exercise. If you are not taking some exercise, i can say that you are healthy but not strong enough if you don't do exercise. Take some breeze walking something like that, jogging, biking. I am a vegetarian too, but i have regular biking every other day, specially on weekends.

I was always so tired and didn't have any energy (and no pills or drinks ever worked to give me energy). But recently I started exercising during the week and drinking water before I ate anything (to make sure I was really hungry) and I feel so much better!! I love water now-I use to drink like 5 soda's a day. I feel alot better and I know I am setting a better example for my kids. I use to keep fruit in the house just for my kids, but not I eat it too!! Good for you for making a healthy change!!

Oh yes water is a real benefit to our lives, whether we have stop smoking or not, and fruit is very good for us as well I just wish that I could quit smoking as well. I have had to start eating a lot healthy meals than I used to including salads, and thse drinks are really great for us as well, we should all strive to make a big decision in our lives and start trying our best for a better healthy body.

I think its fantastic what you are doing for your health. I wish I had the will power to quit smoking! Probiotics do not rejuvinate you. What they do is balance the good bacteria in your body so that you have more healthy and regular bodily functions and halp prevent candida issues. I really think you'd get more benefit from probiotics if you were to get some enteric coated acidophilus bifidus pills and took them daily, and its much more cost effective than buying probiotic drinks. By the way, you will just expand from here. I started out studying herbs for natural health benefits and now serve almost all organic foods, little meat and much more nutritionally balanced meals, as well as have us all on a vitamin and mineral regimen. Myself, my hubby and my kids are far more healthier than most people around us. A month ago they were closing school here because so many kids were out sick. They were getting colds and flus that were lasting two to three weeks, my kids did catch the colds, but they fought them off in two to three days and were back to good health far faster than their class mates. My hubby and I were nearly the only ones at work to not need betw3een three days to a week off to recover from these bugs. Keep up the good work!!

I hope i'm the first to give you this tip so I don't look stupid. I recently started trying to be more healthy. I quit drinking caffeine, which I highly suggeust you start doing if you're not, it has really really helped me a lot. My teeth are much better and I found out I can stay awake without drinking 10 cans of mountain dew a day. Another thing I started was vitamins. This has had the biggest effect on my health by far. I can't beleive I was stupid enough to not take vitamins everyday expecially being anemic and having low blood sugar. I hope I helped you at least a little bit and good luck being healthy.

i recently started eating better myself, and i can't believe how much more energy that i have now...one tip though, if youre going to drink that much water every day make sure you keep your pottasium and electrolytes up because if youre not careful you can flush your self out pretty quickly....
