Hi I have two little ones both under 3 .... I am trying to set a more promident schedule, with out going over board. Crafts, games, tv time etc. With the winter upon us, it's getting harder. Any suggestions??

Since you have two young children, I would make the schedule as general as possible. For example: breakfast, getting dressed/groomed, free play, snack, arts and crafts, lunch, storytime, nap...or whatever works. A great thing to add would be a visual guide for the kids - a picture chart that you laminate could be checked off with a dry-erase marker, or cards hung on hooks could be turned over when an activity is completed. Children adapt better to transitions, especially difficult ones (like naps) when they can prepare ahead of time and know what is coming. If you need specific activities to fit into your schedule, that would be a different answer. Good luck!

Aside from television and watching DVDs, there's always paper and crayons. At this age, kids are excited about looking at their creations. Doodling is a way for them to release their energy! :) Also, storytime hour would be a good idea to settle them down.

Do they have a schedule already? If you are trying to start with a schedule just try the daily things first like get up and after they get up they get dressed. After they get dressed they do the next thing, then the next. Don't that in order for a while and then add the crafts, games, etc. For example, get up and get them dressed. Brush their teeth and hair. Get milk and head off to run errands and bring breakfast. Come home and do an activity such as a craft. Have lunch. Play or get out a book or board game. Have dinner. Take a bath. Good night.
