why do people hate talking about religion?

when i talk to people i feel they avoid tackling the issue of religion and try to be more simple and funny. is it because people are not religious/ or because they feel it is something between them and their god?
i just am not sure. in arab countries it is not simple to talk about sects.

I think in Arab countries, they refrain to mention the name or talk about it cause it's holy or you must be a man of religion to talk about this, sort of license. i think others don't talk about religion because there is no intrigue or controversy in it and sometimes its moral could hurt one's actions
