what animal is best to buy to have as a pet?

i have been an animal lover almost all my life.. i had 6 cats and a dog (the dog is the only one living now). i just want to know, are fish and birds also good pets..as most of my friends have those too. are they not as expensive as having a dog or cat at home? please let me know. thanks!

I don't like pets so I'm not sure what to tell you. It depends on how much time I guess you are willing to care for a pet. They can be very time consuming and attention demanding. A dog or fish I guess would be good.
