Are you a spender or a saver?

If you had a lot of cash right now, would you spend it on a shopping spree or save it in the bank for a rainy day? And why?

well, as a matter of fact, I am used to saving a bit of money I earn each month..i put money aside for bad days or for a big project...my parents did so and I was taught it is important to respect money and to pay attention to the amount of money you spend...We all used to spend a bit of money on charity, too because we don't have to forget people that are less lucky than we are...but if I had an enormous amount of money, I would surely make some of my dreams come true...even though I will put a bit of money aside,too..it is a good habit I think and I like working...I cannot imagine my life without my work...maybe I could have a private hospital where to work in a better way...well...sure...this would be a good idea

Hmm...I see you have the ability to save money, something that I'm very bad at, unfortunately! My mom and sis are also always advising me to save my money for my future. I do think of my future and what would happen if I were to be a bankrupt! So, it's better to save money from now on. Thanks for the response.

Both! Is that possible? :D I think it is.I spend when it's the spending season ,I mean, festivals, birthdays, weddings or sudden celebrations and then, there are times when I realise my investments are for the future. What if I need money tomorrow? and check myself from spending like there is no tomorrow.I wish it would have rained money. That way, no one would ever have to worry about running out of cash.

Wow, that's good! Keep up the good job. I wish I can be both too. But, I only save when I'm totally broke. And I really spend when I'm loaded. =)

I do a bit of both. I love to shop especially as I like my gadgets but I'm generally more of a cautious shopper. I won't jump in and buy the first thing I see I like or the first deal I'm offered. I'm more inclined to shop around a bit and ensure I'm getting the best deal possible - either cheaper price or better specs for around the same price as elsewhere. I'm also a bargain shopper. If I see something on sale that I'd like or think someone else would like (birthday/christmas present etc) then I'd buy it at the time of seeing it on sale, even if it isn't budgeted for, as I'd rather get it then on sale, than have to buy it in a couple of weeks when it isn't. I'm also big on saving. I save a bit of each pay packet as you never know what could be lurking around the corner that will require money. I have a limit (only in my head) that I'll let my bank account balance fall to at any particular "regular" time, with the exception of course when you have those emergency situations or "special circumstances." Like at the moment I've got a pile of expenses all within a three week period - car insurance, car registration, housing rates and uni has just started so I'll be buying textbooks as well. I know that my account will drop below my limit over the next few weeks. When it drops below I'm just a lot more careful of what I buy until it is back past my limit. As my savings increase my limits increase accordingly.

Your methods are really good and I can see that you're a careful person who does not overspend much. I should try to be more like you! Haha! I also look around and compare prices. If there were two shops selling the stuff I want, I'll go to both shops and check out which one is cheaper, then only I'll buy it. It's always a good idea to save money and you've just inspired me and I'm sure a few others too to save money! Thanks for the response!

Well I would invest 50% of my money and 50% in saving. My portfolio is more cautious as I'm not a risk taker. I dun like shopping so I will not spend on shopping spree.

Wow, if only I can be like you, no shopping! If you continue what you've been doing, I'm pretty sure you'll be a millionaire soon. Good luck!

I might spend some of it but I would definitely save and invest most of it. I used to be a spender, but I have realized that spending is an emotion that can only bring momentary happiness. Having money saved gives much more feelings of fulfillment.

Yes, you said it that spending only gives temporary happiness. After that, we'll realise that we'd spent too much already and will regret it. Thanks for the response.

I am a bit of both lol I would spend half and put half away for a rainy day! Theres been far too many rainy days here just lately, so my savings have shivelled away to next to nothing.

Okay. It means you're a balanced person, since you are a bit of both! And I also hope that there will less rainy days for you and more sunshine. Haha! Thanks for responding.

Unfortunately I am a spender. But out of experience I shoud save some of it in the bank. It really sucks to be out of money when your car breaks down , or you need a new refrigirator.

Yeah, it's not fun when one is broke when money is most needed.

I think I would spend it on some things that we needed a couple of little luxuries and then bank the majority of it.
