Does anyone know of a good carseat that can be used both rear facing and forward facing? I am having trouble trying to decide on what to buy.

My favorite carseat is Britax. It can be used forward facing and rear facing. It's a bit pricey but they are known for safety and they hold up well. I have 2 of them. I have the roundabout and the marathon. I suggest the marathon b/c the kid is in it longer.

that's what sold me on the marathon. I had some other seat and my son outgrew it so fast! I wish I would have had the marathon first!

Look at Britax! I have a Britax marathon, it is safe for rear facing up to 33 pounds and forward facing up to 65 pounds. It's really comfy too. It's also FAA approved to go on airlines.

I don't know of any car seats. However, if you go to epinions.com, it's a great site to find anything you're looking for. It gives you a detailed list of features, and allows you to compare prices at different stores and websites.

there are many many car seats that you can use both forward and rear facing. They usually are the bigger ones of course that have the adjustable straps, and you can put in head cushions and they can be rear or forward facing. Just read the side of the box to make sure that they can be used both ways efficiantly.

I don't know the exact name of ours, but it's by Eddie Bauer and we got it at Babies R Us for around $160. I would recommend a regular infant carrier for when the baby is really little. You don't have to wake them to get in and out of the car. We had to switch at 5 months because DS outgrew his. He stayed rear facing until 1 year and when he outgrows that, it converts to a regular booster seat. Good up until 100 pounds. You should do your research, then go to the store and put the baby into the seats. See how they work and what you feel comfortable with. They should also have a demo car seat so you can strap any seat onto it to make sure it'll fit in your car.

We just purchased a COSTCO brand convertable carseat from Walmart. It was a $40 purchase and it works great! It can face front and back.
