Poberty & Business

my girlfriend is working in a pharmacy, which is good news in a third-world country, like Philippines. but this week, they have been doing inventory of their products, and tonight they have to stay over night just to make sure of everything. the worst thing is the employer wants to re-count them, and they, including my girlfriend, can't go home until they say so, and they are not sure if they will honor the over-time of staying there, including the over-night. i just called her and she said she's very hungry and she only have 10 Philippine Peso in her pocket, which is equivalent to $0.2084. i strongly advice her to quit, but in this country, it really is hard to find a job. entepreneurs and businesses here are taking advantage of poberty, coz they know that even if the job is suicidal, a job-seeker will stick to it, even if they have no benefits & rights. it really is unjust!!

its time for your girlfriend to get a better job, and one where she can write a legal contract about hours and pay. Suggest she look for other jobs, and take interviews on her days off. However, inventory is a real pain, no matter what business you work for. I have stayed late, well past midnight in more than one job. However, in Canada, the law states that they have to pay overtime after a specified number of hours
