E.E. Cummings - E.E. Cummings (1894-1962) - my favorite poet

E(dward) E(stlin) Cummings claimed to have composed a poem a day for fourteen years. Cummings developed a unique style of writing, full of experimentation with form, spelling, and syntax, and puncuation. Also a painter, he called himself "an author of pictures, a draughtsman of words."

I've always loved poetry. I mainly admire the works of others, but I still love to try to write my own. Tonight, for whatever reason, I developed a renewed vigor for writing, and set a goal to start writing a poem a day. It's really weird. It's really more than a goal and just something I feel like I have to do. I don't know why, but I've always lived off of impulses and these strange little boughts of passion. Anyway! I know there are plenty of poets out there, and I would love to hear about your experiences. My goal is to get a collection of my poems published and have someone I don't know personally enjoy it, even if it's just on lulu.com and only one person buys it. It would be wonderful to make some extra income by writing and that would be a dream come true, but I know it's really hard to do. So, for you poets out there... How often do you write and what do you write about? Have you been published or do you plan to get published? Do you belong to any online communities for poets? (to get reviews and criticism, read others' poetry, gain exposure, etc.) Any suggestions for other poets? (whether it be in general, about publishing, etc.)
