When did the Life In General section became a trivia quiz show?

Up to a few days ago, Life In General used to have varied discussion about, well, life in general. Today I opened the first ten pages and it is filled with trivia questions posted by mostly two users. I find this extremely irritating, and am going to remove Life In General as one of my interests as a result of basically spam. Have any of the other mylotians found this as well, and how do you cope with it?

I think I know who you mean. These are what I would also call "cut and paste" trivia discussions.
In reality many of them are not too bad in small doses, but as staple diet - could be a bit cloying.
What I find is that if I leave the Interest group alone for about one day - the list disperses and gets mixed up with other discussions.

I agree with you that there should be a separate interest category for trivia. There should also be one for jokes and one for recipes. I find it cumbersome to sort through page after page in order to find a discussion that is appropriate to the category. I also find that many people do not start discussions in the proper category, which also makes it difficult to navigate the site.
