I think it's perfectly fine as long as you set guidelines and show them how those people can trick you. I hate it whenever parents freak out and don't let their children use it because they're afraid that they're going to be kidnapped or raped. I believe that if you show the child that if you don't accept friend requests from strangers or talk to people you don't know then you are safe. I think you should also set guidelines on taking pictures and other personal information. What do you guys think?

Both of my daughters have a myspace my younger daughter is 13 and is set to being 13 so people have to either know her last name or email to ask to be her friend, she only has friends and family members on her myspace, my older daughter who is 18 pretty much only chats with the ones she knows from the neighborhood and school even though she has tons of friends on their. As long as they dont give out personal info I don't see anything wrong with it

I think it is good for them to become social on websites like MySpace etc. The Parents, instead of stopping them entirely from using these services, should tell them how to use these sites in a safe manner. They must be taught not to give more than enough information about them on these sites. Just a little care can do the trick.
