I'm sorry but I didnt sign it simply becuase it IS an abortion....its a spontaneous abortion...I've had 2 of them and that LAST thing on my mind was the term the doc may or may not have used when talking to his co-workers...The only thing in my mind was that I lost my babies...I could care less what they (the medical staff) called it to each other...

It doesn't make much difference to me whether I call it a miscarriage or a spontaneous abortion, here in portugal it is reffered to as spontaneous abortion, there is no other word for it, so when I had a miscarriage it made no difference to call it a spontaneous abortion. It is just a medical term...

Anakata, I haven't looked at the petition yet, but I would presume it is to the Canadian government, so an Aussie wouldn't be able to sign it. I'll check it out later. I know how dreadful it feels to have your loss called an abortion, but this is the medical term. However YOU don't have to use it. You know how much you loved and wanted your baby, so don't let other people's terminology affect you. If it comes up, just quietly correct any wrong impression.

Spontaneous abortion is a medical term. It simply means that the pregnancy aborted itself because of lack of ability to carry. You really shouldn't be offended by medical terminology. I had a still birth at 6 months, and it was deemed still birth because at that age the fetus could have lived if it was alive upon expulsion. I haven't read the petition, but I don't think medical terminology should be changed because of a person's inability to see the difference between medical abortion and spontaneous abortion. I'm sorry. This is my view.

Wow is there really such a thing? There are different types of abortions though. Just because one had one doesn't mean they killed their baby. There's the forced abortion, I can't think of the others now.
