Don't get many responses on discussions started by me

Hi, I am rather new to myLot so please help me out here. I start any topic after much deliberation and I believe that they would be pertinent. However, I do not get more than one or two responses on them. Where do you think I am making a mistake? What should I do to get more responses. One thing I have realized early is to respond to other discussions and put in my views :) Thanks

To be honest I think the time of day you post greatly helps your discussions. Personally I answered more discussions to start off with to get the feel of the place - get some friends not hundreds but say 50 worthwhile friends who post decent discussions and help them by answering their discussions you will find then your friends will help you out by answering your discussions thus putting your post to the top of 'recent discussions' for more people to see! Hope that helps!

Thanks for your suggestion and I am sure they'll help me a lot. May I start implementing it right away by requesting you to be a friend??

You can control the quality and the number of your postings but unfortunately there is nothing we can do in terms of how many or how less people will respond. Timing is a very important factor too. Sometimes our posts got displayed briefly and nobody noticed them and they were pushed down the list as more new discussions flow in. Some day they will surface again hopefully with responses then. Friends in your friend's list may or may not help at all. Don't put to much hope on them to avoid frustrations in the future. Unless of course, you have found real friends who respond to your discussions the same way you respond to theirs. Don't get frustrated, just keep on posting quality ones and be surprised that one day responses will flow in.

Thanks for your response. Even I feel that timing plays some role if not considerable role in getting responses. Do you think that relevance of a topic is also important? And what would classify as a relevant topic?

I think the thing to remember here is that it's a community site, people respond to their friend's discussions before they respond to anyone elses it seems. The best way to get yourself noticed it to read around other open discussions and give your input if you feel it is relevant and if you feel it would be of help to other people. Writing a comment such as "I agree" is not really helpful nor is saying "I don't know about this topic so I can't say anything". Make friends on here. Make sure you go and check out discussions started by people who replied to your discussions and start adding people as friends when you find that you like the topics they're discussing. Gradually people will start responding more and more to your discussions. It's a gradual thing, you can't expect it to happen overnight but read and respond to discussions as well as you can - write quality responses, not just lots of oneliners and soon you'll see the difference in the number of responses you get :)

Hi, Even I am new to myLot. I think I would start by responding to maximum open discussions and make friends. I think this will help me build a platform to start my own discussions

Don't worry and if you keep pitching in you would start receiving more responses. Make sure you have a big friend list and you could help each other!!
