What do you think? Is music a form of relaxation to help you concentrate better? Or is it simple a distraction?

for me it depends on the type of music as well as what I'm trying to accomplish actually.....if I'm trying to get the housework done for example then listening to some loud rock n roll or upbeat music helps me get motivated as well as get it done efficently....if I'm trying to write or paint etc etc then a mellower type of music tends to help...there are times though that no background distractions are actually best for me..

Some people can work efficiently with music playing. Some can even read and not feel distracted by music or background noise. I can work on MyLot and do a lot of computer work with music, which I find relaxing. If I am reading or trying to write an article, though, I can not concentrate with music or the TV on. I think that all people are different when it comes to this.

Music is usually seen as a form of relaxation, but it's true that sometimes, I get distracted and my mind wanders off to paying more attention to the music than the work at hand. I'm not sure about other people, though.
